Hey, did you guys hear? We went to SXSW last week. We didn’t want to make a big deal about it, what with the 30 some odd blog posts we did from Austin. But it’s true. We went there. And we even got to film Jonah talking to Aziz Ansari and Rob Huebel of Human Giant.
Paul Scheer was allegedly on location somewhere “making a movie.” Allegedly.
And he doesn’t even need to be around any trendy bands to do it. All Jonah needs is a Nerf hoop and some highway overpasses.
It’s official. We’ve made a bright yellow poster with black writing on it. As you can see, that writing provides details about a party we’re throwing at this year’s South By Southwest music conference. It also elucidates the names of the entertainers that will be performing at the event as well as its exact location, date and time. Should you find yourself in Austin, Texas in the fair month of March, we suggest you stop by.
Update: Re-uploaded the poster to make a correction or two.
Today’s podcast is put together from Chunklet’s [Still] Born In The USA Tour. A couple of months ago, I jumped in the car with Jonah Ray, Sean O’Connor, Nick Maritato, Andrew Wright and filmed the last show of the tour.
It was a blast… for me at least.
They might need to spend some time apart from each other.

The man behind The Freeloader’s Guide was in town recently and we decided to show him around our offices here at Williams Street. Big fucking mistake. Just take a look.
From what we’ve been able to glean, it has been one wild, wild October for Jonah Ray and his compadres. Their month-long stand-up tour through this great country of ours (specifically, the east coast) has brought some of the biggest laughs in recent memory to places like Kafe Kerouac in Columbus, Ohio. So, big ups to that.
But like all good things that are a play off a Bruce Springsteen album title, this tour must come to an end. The final three nights are going down right here in our proverbial backyard this week (Wed. in Birmingham, Thurs. in Atlanta and Friday in Athens). So, you know we’re going to be there, standing around with cameras in our hands, trying to encourage everybody to “act natural” while we film them.
While that footage is forthcoming, please enjoy this exclusive vlog direct from the (Still) Born tour van. Seems Jonah really captured some of that comedic good cheer that keeps everybody going on the road.
Guess what? This site just got a whole lot shittier. How? We’ve decided instead of showing videos by Jonah Ray, we’re only going to show footage of old people eating at Picadilly or something. To be honest, we don’t know yet. We’re in a goddamn emotional tailspin.
Sigh.
Today’s big premiere is Jonah’s very last Freeloader’s Guide To Easy Living. It’s the “Final Exam,” if you will. Actually, that’s the name of the episode. Steve Agee is in it. And so is a lot of freebasing, which sounds dangerous, but as you can tell from these two screen shots, it’s made Mr. Ray a whole lot sexier over the course of the Guide.
(Notice how the AFTER picture is actually smaller than the BEFORE shot. See what had happened was, the newer, slimmer Jonah actually causes j-peg’s to shrink now. It’s weird.)
Oh, by the way, Jonah also just uploaded a new music video he did about zombies and Home Depot. Iz funny, oui?
Not since the epic collaborations of Sting and Diddy, of R. Kelly and Celine Dion–nay!–of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney has there been such a duet–two brothers from different mothers united in music, connected by aquaducts of equanimity and buttressed by arches of harmony (with mellifluous grouting)–that so effortlessly spans the troubled waters of racial divisions.
Ladies and gentlemen, without any further garblings about ethnic cement mixers or whatnot, I give you Jonah Ray and Tay Zonday collaborating on Tay’s Internet smash, “Chocolate Rain.”
By the way, “Chocolate Rain” is now well over the million views mark on YouTube. Way to go, Tay! To celebrate, let’s all watch it again, shall we?
Good morning, America. How are you? Don’t you know Jonah Ray? He’s our boy!! Our very own baby boy!!
OK, not really. But we do love and support him and his recent “vloggings.” Check out this new one…
Who’s the other guy with Jonah, you axe? Why, that’s Eric Appel. He’s a comedy writer out of L.A. who has a very, very, very funny series debuting here on Super Deluxe next week. It’s called The Subconscious Channel and the premise is, scientists have stolen Eric’s brain, and decided to create a whole network out of his “deepest and dumbest thoughts.”
Here’s a lil’ spoiler. There’s a rather opinionated Speak & Spell in the first episode that says stuff like this…
Our favorite freeloader isn’t just a comedian, actor and all around fun guy. He’s also a human being.
And he also just uploaded his first ever video blog. You go, Jonah!
