What Happened To CineKal? - Part Three

“Hatred is blind, as well as love.”
–Oscar Wilde

In the previous installment of this hard-hitting investigative series, we presented the entire “body of work” for which the Super Deluxe user known as CineKal is infamously known for. That is, more than 100 bitchy, nasty and downright ugly comments posted to more than a year’s worth of Fark TV videos.

Clearly, he was a man obsessed. Much like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, CineKal seemed to be motivated by something other worldly. Day in and day out, he made it a priority in his life to ruthlessly critique Fark TV. And for what? So he could become the most unpopular person on Super Deluxe? Because that’s about all his personal crusade ever accomplished.

After all, Fark TV’s still on. In fact, they’re doing better than ever. And from what we can tell, they never adjusted so much as a single camera angle in response to CineKal’s complaints. Occasionally, they would take a break from their busy schedule to post a retort, like this one from Fark TV’s Bill Doty:

But other than that, Fark TV never really let CineKal’s vitriol bother them. They even graciously allowed him to comment as much as he wanted on their videos, only once deleting a post of his after he made a particularly vicious remark about one of the Fark girls:

Of course, many have alleged CineKal is actually a member of Fark TV whose sole mission is to stir up fake controversy (and extra views) for their videos.

This would make for a perfect explanation. Acting as your own foil is a tried-and-true way of generating and manipulating buzz. And it would seamlessly mesh with the prankster culture on Fark.com where Fark TV was born from. But it also must be noted that if some member of Fark TV has indeed been moonlighting as their own worst critic, then they deserve the Andy Kaufman Award For Willful Self-Destruction. And an honorable mention for keeping a secret. Every time we’ve asked, the Fark TV guys swear up and down that they’re not CineKal.

So, who is he, then? Hard to tell. A cursory search around the Internet turns up little. He’s got a pretty anonymous YouTube channel. His Stumbleupon profile says he lives in Grand Rapids, Connecticut, likes R.E.M. and Dr. Strangelove (it also states that Fark TV’er Billy Doty “is a whiny cunt”). And his bullying comments can be found on various gamer and gadget boards here and there.

He also has repeatedly claimed that he is “in the industry”–a blanket assertion that’s acted as his de facto explanation for why he’s so critical of Fark TV. When other users have reasonably countered his criticisms by asking, “Why don’t you make your own stuff if you hate Fark TV so much?”, CineKal plays this “industry” card to the hilt. He insists “contracts” have his hands tied, preventing him from otherwise schooling us mere mortals on the proper techniques of video making, et. al.

With all that said, the portrait that we’ve been able to paint of CineKal is spotty at best. His Super Deluxe profile only confirms that’s he’s as bitter and single-minded as we already knew him to be:

So, if we don’t exactly know who he is, perhaps we can find out exactly what happened to CineKal. And why he suddenly called off his one man crusade.

    • WILL FERREL.

      gotta be!

    • Thank doG these “reports” aren’t one-sided and snarky.

One-sided, as my input was requested and subsequently ignored.

      Hmmmm…..

BTW, if you want REAL hate, check out the Farkers comments on “FarkTV’s” efforts. My comments were critical but mild compared to the thoughts of the masses.

    • I love you Cine. Please come back.
