You may already know about it from Brad’s announcement on Creased Comics. If not, here’s the story: Mr. Neely has just put the finishing touches on his first ever multi-part miniseries. It’s called China, Illinois and it stars just about every character he’s ever drawn (for Super Deluxe, at least) including Baby Cakes and the Professor Brothers. We can’t give too much away, but we will say that it is a musical of sorts involving a dead woman and it revolves around a community college in China, Illinois (more on that psuedo-fictional town in a moment).
Now for the premiere schedule. Every Monday in May, a new episode will premiere here on Super Deluxe. And then, in a wacky twist of cross-pollination synergy, the entire 11-minute miniseries will be broadcast on Adult Swim the night before the final episode AND entire 11-minute miniseries appears here.
To review:
As for the peculiarly named municipality of China, Illinois, wethinks it may just be yet another invention born from the mad brain of Brad Neely. A lil’ dot does show up in Google map searches…
…but upon further investigation, no such place exists. There once was a China Township in the Land of Lincoln. But apparently, they renamed themselves. We called the County Clerk and Recorder’s office in Lee County, Illinois and this is what they had to say:
Them: It’s now Franklin Grove. It used to be China Township. But it’s now Franklin Grove Township.
Us: Oh, because we found a China, Illinois on Google Maps.
Them: There is a Chana, Illinois. I don’t know about China. Chana, Illinois is in Ogle County.
Us: Chana?
Them: C-h-a-n-a.
Us: So, China, Illinois…
Them: Got changed to Franklin Grove Township.
Us: OK. You know any reason why?
Them: I guess, years ago, it was Franklin Grove. And they changed it. I don’t know why. And then about 3 years ago, they chose to change it back. They went through the proper procedure to have it changed back.
Us: Did it have anything to do with the nation of China?
Them: I don’t know.
Us: Do you know if there’s a community college there?
Them: No.
Hello, world! My name is Mack and I just got the internet. Check out all of these hilarious links I’ve found.
Oh my god! This guy really messed up his “ninja moves”… Too funny, guys!
Speaking of ninjas, here’s a hilarious website all about them! This web page is cool, and by cool, I mean totally sweet.
Well, that’s it for now. Next week, I’ll have even more new, exciting links for you guys.

From Sane Dave:
I was in the audience for a panel at ROFLCon about “Making It Big” on the Internet, and one of the panelists was our very own Brad Neely.

At that panel an audience member asked of Brad whether or not Super Deluxe would be doing any more shows with Mr. Show alums like Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. At the time I wasn’t sure of the answer, but now that I’m back in the office I tracked down some more info. Here’s the entire rundown of Mr. Show cast members Super Deluxe is currently working with, straight from Dan Pasternack, our VP of content:
“We have an ongoing relationship with both Bob and David and, although they are busy working on their HBO pilot right now, we are expecting more from them both soon. Meanwhile, Mr. Show writers and performers Scott Aukerman and BJ Porter through their Comedy Death Ray brand are currently prepping new pieces for us. And Jay Johnston, who has done quite a lot of work for us in the past, will be appearing in videos from Jonah Ray and Mr. Show music man Mark Rivers in the very near future, so stay tuned!”
As distinguished patrons of the arts who appreciate a good LOL, Super Deluxe supported and attended the inaugural ROFLCon this past weekend, an in-person celebration of funny things on the Internet held in Cambridge, MA. Here are a few of our favorite moments:
From Sane Dave:
One of the shining moments of ROFLCon for me happened when the lights turned low on Jay Maynard, otherwise known as Tron Guy. I was incredibly impressed with what Jay had to say throughout the conference. At the end of his panel, Jay had the house lights turned down to show off his Tron costume in its full glory. He asked a couple of times for photographers not to use flash so that everyone could get the full effect of the elecroluminescent wire that makes up his costume. It was one meme invoking another and an apt ending to the panel when, in the darkness, Jay served a “FAIL” on one last photographer’s flash.
Here’s what it looked and sounded like:
From Squirrelene:
Sometimes nothing sparks a wave of introversion more than raising your solitary sweaty palm in the air to ask a question in a large lecture hall packed with unknown faces. I can do without that shit, thank you very much, which is why MIT’s simple web-based tool, backchan.nl, won at ROFLCon. The tool allows audience members (and even hungover conference attendees streaming from their hotel rooms) to easily ask questions, send comments and vote submissions up or down in a Reddit or Digg-like fashion, thereby sifting top questions onto the projection screen in the front of the room. Attendees were commenting freely, sending geek props, asking poignant questions — even pulling pranks.
During the Incubating The Mindvirus: Meme Infrastructures panel, attendees successfully rickrolled the entire session by submitting the lyrics to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” to the backchannel, even voting them in the proper reading order.
EPIC WIN.

The prank is only one of many highlights from ROFLCon. Explode even more awesome into your eyeballs by checking out photos from the Super Deluxe crew at ROFLCon here. Or more accurately, the photos and videos that hopefully won’t get us in deep with the man.

Boston has never been so ROFL’ish a time!
From El Douche A:
I didn’t go to ROFLCon. But I did look at some of the pictures these guys took while they were there, and it looked like they had a lot of fun.
Cool sign. But I think “asshole” should be abbreviated like “a/s/h/l/e,” maybe.
Apparently, everybody went bowling with Brad Neely.
Walking, talking Internet memes have to eat lunch too.

In the previous installment of this hard-hitting investigative series, we presented the entire “body of work” for which the Super Deluxe user known as CineKal is infamously known for. That is, more than 100 bitchy, nasty and downright ugly comments posted to more than a year’s worth of Fark TV videos.
Clearly, he was a man obsessed. Much like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, CineKal seemed to be motivated by something other worldly. Day in and day out, he made it a priority in his life to ruthlessly critique Fark TV. And for what? So he could become the most unpopular person on Super Deluxe? Because that’s about all his personal crusade ever accomplished.
After all, Fark TV’s still on. In fact, they’re doing better than ever. And from what we can tell, they never adjusted so much as a single camera angle in response to CineKal’s complaints. Occasionally, they would take a break from their busy schedule to post a retort, like this one from Fark TV’s Bill Doty:

Norm Macdonald Presents The Fake News just might’ve made its final O.J. Simpson joke. When reached for comment, Simpson would only say that he’s vowed to find the real killer.
Update: dear readers, this giveaway has reached its dramatic conclusion. We have our winners. A special thanks goes out to all of you who responded so quickly. First 5 responders: keep checking your inboxes because we’ll be getting in touch with you soon to send you your free DVD and pound of marijuana. 6th responder: can we interest you in a back massage?
You read that right. It says “NOT LIVE.” This Tuesday, Tim and Eric are returning to Super Deluxe. But instead of doing their “NITE LIVE” show from Los Angeles, they’ll be debuting the first in a series of “NOT LIVE” videos from the road.
Which may be the closest you’ll be able to get to them these days if you haven’t already bought tickets to their Awesome Show, Great Job!™ Tour 2008. As you can see from this helpful MySpace calendar, they’re selling out everywhere.
Except Asheville. And Lawrence. And Seattle. And Los Angeles. They haven’t sold out in those cities.
OK, now for the DVD giveaway part. We have 5 copies of Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Season One that we want to rid ourselves of.

Seeing as our other DVD giveaway is going so well (only 2 people have responded), we’ll make this one a bit easier: all you have to do is write a short essay in the comments below explaining why you should receive a free DVD. That’s it. Type up a persuasive lil’ paragraph for us and it’s yours. Easy.
Two videos. One winner. You decide.
Either it’s today’s premiere by DJ Douggpound featuring Eric Fensler of overdubbed G.I. Joe PSA fame…
…or it’s me, El Douche A, trying to land a “failslide” in the Super Deluxe offices.
We were just looking at the comments on Cakey! #1 when we noticed this lil’ gem…
You are correct, Caped Cod. Cakey! The Cake From Outer Space does feature Mr. Brian Huskey who plays a cross-dressing father-freak. He’s done a lot of other TV and movie work, but yes, he’s also “the dude from the Sonic commercials.” And he’s quite tatted up, as you can see.
Anywho, we just wanted an excuse to do a post about Cakey! since we here on the blog are such big fans (and the second episode just went up on the home page today). The creators, Mr. Ghost, also have a very funny series called My Wife, The Ghost that you should watch. It’s like I Dream Of Jeannie or Bewitched except the wife is dead.
